In its original form it was a list of tips aimed to help American programmers avoid having their jobs outsourced from under them, written as a series of short blog-style chapters that are not long enough to cover their topic, let alone dive deep enough to provide any insight. Finally, the level of discussion is often too simplistic, glossing over the all the nuances and gray areas.

I would have given 5 stars if the anecdotes would give a more coherent overall picture they are well organized, just not perfectly well and the tasks at the end of the chapters are more equally-sized and therefore actionable some things suggested will take you several weeks to complete, you obviously won’t do that during reading.
Overall, the writing feels too egocentric for my taste.
For a more seasoned developer, the book mainly serves as a guided passuonate with areas such as blogging, speaking at conferences, contributing to open source, understanding the business side of your company, and anticipating developments in the industry. Some of us don’t plan to become managers, but want to be and stay passionate programmers.
